Volunteers are needed on behalf of Special Olympics Florida at the 2020 Special Olympics Florida Summer Games. Special Olympics Florida is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round training and competition in 30 Olympic-type summer and winter sports. For more information, please visit www.specialolympicsflorida.org.
Volunteer positions are available on Friday, May 15, 2020 and Saturday, May 16, 2020. Special Olympics Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. All volunteers must complete a waiver and volunteers under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian sign a waiver prior to the event.
The 2020 Special Olympics Florida Summer Games is part of the annual Volunteer Ambassador Team Calendar. You will receive one commemorative piece of apparel for the event (sizes are not guaranteed) and one snack per shift. Snacks are typically provided at the start of your shift. If you have special dietary needs, please plan accordingly.
Volunteer Ambassador Team activities will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Although every effort will be made to accommodate your selection, the scheduling office reserves the right to schedule volunteers based on event needs, which includes placing volunteers on a waiting list. You will receive a confirmed volunteer schedule of the shifts for which you have been scheduled closer to the event. Confirmations will be mailed approximately 30 days prior to the event or emailed after that and will include further information on times, parking location, and other details.
